The Swallows Are Back!

I’m so happy to see that the swallows have returned to my garden.

The swallow flies
as fast as the wind.
Over the hills
he comes back in Spring.

He’s flown from Africa
and up through Spain.
But now he’s back
in Britain once again.

He joins his colony
and does a loop the loop.
He ends his journey
in an enormous swoop.

And every year
in Spring and Summer,
I watch him fly
in awesome wonder.

My mum has been keeping a note of when we first see the swallows in the spring and they always arrive in the last week of April.

  1. Oh how lovely. Are they trying to get into the barn again?
I saw my first swallow of the year last week.

  6. The last of our swallows left about 4 days ago. I still see a few flying around the village but they too will be away soon.
The geese are coming back now – I love hearing their ‘honks’ and looking up to see their ‘V’ formation flying! 🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
